Notes

At this point, the narrator his given into temptation and has been ignoring his faith for a long time. He's questioning his path, but the forces of darkness definitely have a strong hold on him - a hold that he's willingly given them. He starts asking questions, wondering if he's wrong, but unwilling to face the consequences of his actions.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
What if I've been wrong all along?
What if faith is only fiction?
What if there's nothing after this life?
What if we're truly all alone?

What if I wasted all this time?
Will it even matter when I die?

[Instrumental]

[Verse 2]
So many prophets, calling in the wilderness
In contradiction,
Each one claims to hold the truth
How am I to know?
Why can't the choice be clear?
Thought I had it figured out,
But now I'm not so sure

What if I am the heretic,
Severed from the root?
What if I'm walking in faith toward my doom?

[Chorus]
When license to sin masquerades as grace
When Jesus becomes
Nothing more than a name
When the spirit dies
And the flesh takes control
Heresy finds its home. Heresy takes its place.

[Interlude]
[Instrumental]

[Verse 3]
Doctrines of demons crawl in my eyes.
Sin for a season, the blind lead the blind.
Angels and devils dance in my head.
Hades and Paradise hang by a thread.

What if I made the wrong decision?
What if the damage is already done?

[Instrumental]

[Final chorus]
License to sin, masquerading as grace
The name of the Christ
Has become a disgrace
The spirit is dying, the flesh in control
Heresy rules the day. Heresy seals my fate.

[End]
