Notes

Standing at the very edge, the narrator still wants cling to his faith. But he's been away from it for so long, and, truth be told, he knows that coming back will have consequences and some of them won't be pleasant. He will have to give up a lot of things he's become accustomed to. Going back will cost him everything - almost as much as going forward. At this point, he is about to fall apart and isn't even sure what he feels or cares about anymore. He's finally realizing how far he's fallen and wonders if there's any point to even trying anymore.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I used to see so clearly,
Now I'm blinded by my sin
If I called Your name right now,
Would You hear anything at all?

What if silence is my answer?
What if Your mercy has run out?

[Bridge]
Oh, God, why am I such a mess?
Am I slowly burning out?
Or just about to fade away?

[Chorus]
Have I been gone too long?
Have I fallen too far?
Can I still come home?
Was I ever really there?
Can I still be saved?
Do I even care?

[Interlude]
[Instrumental]

[Verse 2]
I used to be so certain
I used to think I knew Your voice
Used to wear this faith like armor
And I swore I knew the way

If You saw me now, would You recognize me?
Would You still die for me today?

[Bridge]
Oh, God, why am I such a mess?
Am I slowly burning out?
Or just about to fade away?

[Chorus]
Have I been gone too long?
Have I fallen too far?
Can I still come home?
Was I ever really there?
Can I still be saved?
Do I even care?

[End]
