The narrator has finally come to his senses, to an extent. He knows he must try to return to faith, but he also knows what that means. He'll have to start over from the beginning. But he's so broken, so messed up, that he needs to be demolished and rebuilt from scratch. This is the first time he's been honest with himself and with God in a long time. At last, the walls he's built begin to crumble.
